MANSFIELD — A local resident was stabbed outside his home on Pine Needle Lane late Tuesday night, prompting a large-scale search by law enforcement, the Mansfield Police Department reported.
The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. when the victim, while exiting his vehicle, was attacked and stabbed by an individual later identified as his stepson.
The Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Communications Center (SEMRECC) received the emergency call from the victim who reported the assailant had fled on foot and was out of view.
Mansfield Fire Department transported the victim to a nearby hospital, while officers, joined by Foxboro Police Department and MetroLEC, established a perimeter and launched a search with drones and on foot.
Despite crisis negotiators’ attempts to contact the suspect, Edward Curtis Riboul, through his cell phone, he remains at large.
A reverse 911 message was issued to the neighborhood as a precautionary measure.
Authorities have worked through the night and inquiries continue in the pursuit of Riboul, who is believed to have left the Mansfield area.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Riboul, 23, on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a household or family member.
Mansfield Police Chief Ronald A.
Sellon, Jr. expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation and urged anyone with information about Riboul’s whereabouts to contact Detective Patrick Pennie at 508.261.7301 x61348 or dial 911.
Riboul, described as a black male, 6’1” tall, and approximately 180lbs, was last seen wearing all-black clothing.
The public is advised not to approach Riboul and instead to call 911 immediately.
