Bridgeport task force seizes illegal firearms, arrests teens after spike in shootings

BRIDGEPORT — After a recent increase in gun-related incidents in the Trumbull Gardens Housing Community, the Bridgeport Police Regional Task Force conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of illegal firearms and the arrest of two teenagers.

On July 30, the Task Force, with assistance from the Bridgeport Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Division, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of Trumbull Ave.

During the operation, officers seized a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol modified with a switch to enable fully automatic fire, an additional extended magazine, and multiple rounds of 9mm ammunition.

A teenage suspect was apprehended at the location and faces several firearm violations charges.

In a related action, Task Force Officers detained another teen from Bridgeport connected to the recent shootings.

The second suspect was found in possession of a 9mm “Ghost Gun,” also equipped with an extended magazine.

This individual was similarly charged with firearm violations.

The investigation remains active as authorities continue to address the surge in local criminal activity.
