ROYALTON — A routine patrol led to a high-speed pursuit and multiple charges for a 26-year-old woman on July 18.

Officer J. Oliver of the Royalton Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a Black Chevy Impala driven by Melody Fairbanks on VT RT 107 in Bethel.

The vehicle, which lacked valid license plates and had not been inspected, failed to stop, resulting in a vehicle chase.

Fairbanks, whose driver’s license was previously suspended or revoked, now faces charges including attempting to elude a police officer, gross negligent operation, unlawful restraint in the second degree, and recklessly endangering another person.

She was issued a citation to appear at Windsor County Vermont Superior Court.

Officer Gardner and Chief Stalnaker also responded to the incident, which concluded at 7:30 p.m.
