North Haven police arrest two juveniles for shoplifting, possession of burglary tools

NORTH HAVEN — Two 17-year-old juveniles were arrested on July 29 after a shoplifting incident at a local Dick’s Sporting Goods store, police said.

Patrol officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:20 p.m. following a report of the theft.

The juveniles had fled on bikes in different directions but were quickly located by the officers.

One of the juveniles was found with an electric hammer/window punch and a live shotgun round, tools often used in burglaries for breaking windows.

The other was carrying a facsimile Glock firearm.

Both were taken into custody without further incident.

The juvenile with the burglary tools and ammunition is facing charges of larceny in the sixth degree, possession of burglary tools, and criminal possession of ammunition.

The second juvenile is charged with larceny in the sixth degree and possession of a facsimile firearm.

The names of the minors have not been released due to their age.
