NEWTOWN — A routine traffic stop on Church Hill Road by Newtown Police Sergeant Adam James resulted in a significant drug seizure and the arrest of a Danbury man on July 25.

During the stop for various motor vehicle violations, a subsequent investigation raised suspicions that narcotics might be present in the vehicle.

A Connecticut State Police K9 was called to the scene, confirming that the driver, Tameek Heath, was in possession of a large quantity of crack cocaine, suspected fentanyl, and several thousand dollars in cash, in addition to other items indicative of narcotics sales.

Heath faces multiple charges including possession with intent to sell (second offense), possession near a school zone, possession of over 1/2 ounce of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, misuse of plates, operating with a suspended license, and operating an unregistered vehicle.

The bond for Heath was set at $75,000.

He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Court to answer to the charges.
