Bridgton man arrested on drug trafficking, firearm charges

FRYEBURG — Following a year-long investigation, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, in collaboration with the Fryeburg Police Department, announced the arrest of a Bridgton man on multiple drug trafficking and firearm charges.

Kevin L. Thurston, 50, was taken into custody on Friday afternoon during a traffic stop conducted by officers who had been surveilling a suspicious residence at 107 Portland Street.

Thurston faces charges of unlawful aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine (Class A), and unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (Class C).

During the stop, authorities seized approximately 80 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, assorted prescription pills, a loaded handgun, and $3,321 in suspected drug proceeds.

Thurston was subsequently jailed at the Oxford County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash.

MDEA agents from the Western District Task force and local law enforcement executed a search warrant at the Portland Street address, where an additional 60 grams of illegal substances and six firearms were discovered.

The homeowner, not present during the search, may face related charges as the investigation continues.

Further arrests are anticipated.
