SWANZEY — A 48-year-old man was injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Swanzey on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Gary Covey was operating an ATV with a trailer in tow for work-related purposes when he lost control on a steep slope at around 2:30 p.m., according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

The vehicle slid, causing the trailer to jackknife and the ATV to roll over.

Rescue personnel from the Swanzey Police Department, Cheshire County Ambulance, and a Fish and Game Conservation Officer responded to the accident after receiving a call from NH State Police Dispatch.

Covey was transported by Cheshire County Ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials remind all off-highway recreational vehicle users to be cautious of their surroundings, recognize potential hazards, operate within their abilities, and always use proper safety equipment.
