ST. JOHNSBURY — The Vermont State Police arrested a local man for allegedly taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and operating it with a criminally suspended driver’s license.

Authorities said Brandon Aldrich, 36, of St. Johnsbury, took Jennifer Howland’s, 42, also of St. Johnsbury, vehicle around 7 p.m. on July 25.

Reports indicated that shortly after Aldrich took the vehicle, he was involved in a crash on a public highway.

Troopers who responded to the incident conducted an investigation, which confirmed that Aldrich had driven the vehicle without Howland’s permission and that at the time of the crash, his driver’s license was criminally suspended.

Aldrich has been cited to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Aug. 26 at 8:30 a.m. to face charges related to the incident.
