PETERBOROUGH — A series of related thefts culminated in the arrest of a New Hampshire man Sunday afternoon, according to Peterborough Police.
At around 3:30 p.m., the police were alerted to a break-in at a Pine Street apartment.
The homeowner confronted the intruder, who subsequently fled on a bicycle.
Soon after, another resident from Grove Street reported the theft of an electric bicycle, which was spotted heading north on Grove Street.
Further calls led police to a home security alert involving an intruder at another Grove Street residence.
The homeowner, though away, provided police with security camera footage.
By just after 4 p.m., the suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Iain T. Ours of Rochester, was located by police on Route 101.
Ours was found with a bicycle different from the earlier reported electric bicycle.
During the police interaction, a Scott Street resident reported that Ours had stolen the bicycle he was riding and had left the electric bike at the Scott Street address.
Ours was arrested and charged with felony burglary, misdemeanor criminal trespassing, two counts of misdemeanor theft, and possession of stolen checks.
He was booked and held on preventative detention at the Valley Street jail in Manchester.
Chief Scott Guinard of the Peterborough Police Department confirmed that the quick resolution was a result of community and police collaboration.
