NORTH HAVEN — A bomb threat at the local Amazon Fulfillment Center prompted a large-scale emergency response late Sunday night, authorities said.
The North Haven Police Department received the threat at 11:02 p.m., July 14, when a caller claimed a bomb had been placed inside the facility.
The building was immediately evacuated as a precaution, involving North Haven Fire Department and Amazon’s security personnel in the process.
The Regional Bomb Squad and explosive-detecting K-9 units were dispatched to the scene.
After a thorough search, the facility was declared safe with no explosive devices found.
Investigation by North Haven detectives led to the identification of 32-year-old Michael Pierre, an Amazon employee from Bridgeport, as the individual responsible for the threat.
It was determined that Pierre made the call in close proximity to the fulfillment center.
Pierre was arrested early Monday morning on charges including Misuse of Emergency 911-False Alarm, False Incident Report 1st Degree, and Breach of Peace 1st Degree.
He was held on a $25,000 court-set bond.
Following his arrest, Pierre was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court this morning.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
