Newbury man dies in single-vehicle crash on Wallace Hill Road

NEWBURY — A 22-year-old Newbury man was killed early Monday morning in a car accident on Wallace Hill Road.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the scene at 5:37 a.m. after receiving reports of the crash near the intersection with Stark Trail.

They discovered a 2000 Jeep Wrangler that had suffered extensive damage.

Daniel Sweet, the driver and sole occupant of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation indicates that Sweet was driving northbound when his vehicle veiled off the road and rolled over, leading to his ejection from the Jeep.

Emergency responders from the Newbury Fire Department and Woodsville Ambulance were also on site to assist.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Trooper Hastings at 802-748-3111.
