MANCHESTER — A morning altercation in Pulaski Park led to the arrest of a 58-year-old man on charges of armed robbery, Manchester police said Thursday.
Authorities responded to a call at approximately 8:30 a.m. about a fight at the park located at 125 Bridge St. Upon arrival, officers found Dennis Higgins of Manchester pushing two bicycles onto the sidewalk and wielding an aluminum bat.
A witness reported seeing Higgins engaged in a struggle with another man, during which Higgins allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the face with his fist.
The victim suffered a swollen eye and facial bruising but declined medical attention at the scene.
Investigation revealed that one of the bicycles and a cell phone in Higgins’ possession belonged to the victim.
Higgins, who is already a convicted felon with active bail conditions from a prior drug charge, was taken into custody.
He faces charges including Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Breach of Bail.
Higgins is set to be arraigned in Manchester District Court on July 29.
