BRIDGEPORT — A potential shooting at the Trumbull Ave Housing complex was averted thanks to the quick actions of the Bridgeport Police Department and their Regional Task Force on July 24.

Officers from the Bridgeport Police Fusion Center gathered intelligence about potential threats of a shooting in the area.

Acting on that information, the task force identified Noah Diaz, born on Sept. 7, 2004, as the suspect.

Diaz was observed by members of the task force entering a stolen Toyota Highlander while wearing gloves.

The officers detained him without incident and found a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun in his waistband.

Diaz was arrested as he did not have a valid pistol permit.

Following his arrest, Diaz was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, interfering with an officer, and larceny of a motor vehicle.
