BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 21-year-old Hyde Park man and recovered a stolen firearm during a traffic stop in Dorchester early Monday morning.
At about 2:24 a.m., officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted a traffic stop near 367 Harvard St. after noticing a vehicle with excessively tinted windows on Talbot Ave.
The officers, who were on a directed patrol, activated their emergency lights and sirens to pull over the car.
Dkhari Wornum-Brown, the front passenger, was arrested after a firearm was spotted on his seat during the stop, which led to a brief foot chase when he attempted to flee.
The firearm, a Silver Armscorp 206 Revolver .38 Cal Special with a wooden grip and loaded with six live rounds, had been reported stolen.
Wornum-Brown faces arraignment in Dorchester District Court on charges including Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Receiving Stolen Property.
The driver received a citation for excessive window tint and not wearing a seatbelt, while Wornum-Brown and another passenger were cited for not wearing seatbelts.
