Guilford man faces multiple charges after Somerset campground assault

SOMERSET — Vermont State Police arrested a Guilford man on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct, aggravated assault, and simple assault following an incident at Somerset Campground on July 26.

Troopers were called to the camping area at 8:46 p.m. after reports of an assault.

The investigation revealed that Christopher Pond, 38, had allegedly touched a female inappropriately without her consent and subsequently physically assaulted her and a male individual who attempted to intervene.

Pond was taken into custody and processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks.

He was later held at Marble Valley Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail.

The Vermont State Police have not released the names of the victims in compliance with policies regarding sexual assault and domestic violence cases.
