BOSTON — A man suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run incident in Roxbury that injured pedestrians was arrested Saturday night, with police recovering a firearm and suspected narcotics from his vehicle.

At about 8:35 p.m. on July 27, officers from the Boston Police Department’s District B-2 conducted a traffic stop in connection with a motor vehicle hit-and-run that caused personal injury.

Dequell Golson, 31, of Boston, was arrested on an outstanding warrant as well as charges related to firearms, motor vehicles, and narcotics offenses.

Earlier in the evening, officers at a basketball tournament at Marcella Park reported a vehicle had struck multiple pedestrians before fleeing the scene.

Two victims were found, one of whom was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Responding officers provided a description of the suspect’s vehicle to radio operations, prompting an area-wide search.

While officers assisted the victims and secured the scene at Marcella Park, a vehicle matching the description was located and stopped at 6 Dimmock St. Golson, the operator of the vehicle, was questioned after officers noticed damage consistent with the incident.

A background check revealed his outstanding warrant, leading to his arrest.

During a thorough investigation, officers discovered a .38 Special revolver, loaded with five rounds of ammunition, concealed within the vehicle’s interior.

The firearm was found hidden inside a loose panel below the shifting column.

Upon his arrest, Golson asked officers to retrieve his fanny pack from the vehicle, which led to the discovery of a rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine.

Golson faces arraignment in Roxbury District Court, with charges including strangulation/suffocation, kidnapping, assault on a family member, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, and drug possession.

He has also been cited for reckless vehicle operation, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and a headlight violation.
