SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police apprehended a 16-year-old male suspect Thursday in relation to a shooting that left one man seriously injured on Berkshire Avenue.
At around 2:10 p.m. officers responded to the 400 block of Berkshire Avenue following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they provided first aid to an adult male victim with gunshot wounds before transporting him to Baystate Medical Center.
Under the guidance of Captain Trent Duda, the Springfield Police Detective Bureau initiated an investigation.
The detectives identified and detained the teen suspect on the 0-100 block of Geneva Street.
In the process of searching for other potential suspects, a firearm was recovered on the 0-100 block of Steuben Street.
The juvenile suspect has been arrested; however, details about his identity, booking photo, and charges are withheld due to his age.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
