SALEM — Salem Police Department’s extensive investigation into local drug trafficking culminated in a successful raid on July 25, when detectives, alongside specialized units, seized a large quantity of drugs and firearms from a Boston Street mini-mart.

The month-long probe by the Criminal Investigation Division, with support from the Community Impact Unit and Patrol Division, led to the execution of a crucial search warrant at the Mass Mini Mart, located at 34 Boston Street.

During the operation, law enforcement officials uncovered two firearms, including one reported stolen from Lynn, a stun gun, approximately 56 grams of fentanyl in powder form, pressed fentanyl pills, crack cocaine, methamphetamines, and a sum of cash believed to be drug proceeds.

Kathania Vasquez, 24, from Beverly, and Bryan Martinez, 23, from Salem and Lawrence, were apprehended without resistance.

The duo faces multiple charges, including Trafficking Class A Fentanyl over 36 grams, Possession to Distribute Crack Cocaine, and Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, among other related drug offenses.

The seized contraband, particularly fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, highlights the ongoing battle against the opioid epidemic plaguing communities.

The Salem Police Department’s decisive action reflects its commitment to dismantling local drug distribution networks and ensuring public safety.

Further details regarding the investigation and subsequent court proceedings have yet to be released.
