Boston traffic stop leads to arrest, seizure of loaded firearm

BOSTON — A routine traffic stop in Roslindale early Friday morning led to the arrest of a Dorchester man and the recovery of a loaded firearm and ammunition, according to the Boston Police Department.

At about 1:15 a.m., officers from District B-3 in Mattapan pulled over an SUV at 485 American Legion Highway after noticing the vehicle idling on Shandon Rd. and discovering it had an expired registration.

Upon further investigation, the officers found that the driver, Frezell Brown, 46, was operating the SUV with an expired driver’s license.

A search of the vehicle revealed a Taurus International 9mm handgun with a magazine containing ten rounds, as well as an additional empty magazine.

B-3 detectives confirmed the firearm’s capacity to hold 12 rounds.

Brown was taken into custody and faces charges including Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

He is expected to be arraigned at West Roxbury District Court.

In addition to the firearms charges, Brown received a Mass Uniform Citation for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and driving without a valid license.
