1 min read

BATH — A local resident discovered a dead gray fox on their Maxwell Street property on Tuesday, prompting concerns about rabies in the area, the Bath Police Department reported.

The police sent the fox to a laboratory for testing, and the results, which came back today, confirmed the animal was infected with rabies.

This marks the third rabid gray fox identified in Bath in the past four weeks.

Authorities are urging the community to exercise caution and are advising pet owners to verify that their pets are up-to-date with rabies vaccinations.

Residents are also being asked to report any animals behaving suspiciously or appearing sick to help prevent the spread of the disease.
