NORTH BRANFORD — A collision involving a dump truck and a car at the intersection of Foxon Road and Totoket Road injured two people Monday morning.

At 9:02 a.m., North Branford Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting the accident.

Emergency units from the North Branford Police and Fire Departments were quickly on the scene.

Responders found the dump truck overturned, with part of it resting on a smaller compact car.

The truck, which was carrying hot asphalt, spilled its contents onto the roadway, complicating the situation.

Two individuals in the car received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with minor injuries.

The dump truck driver was unharmed.

Connecticut State Police Truck Squad joined the local authorities to assist in the investigation.

The preliminary findings led to the dump truck operator being charged with failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Foxon Road remained closed for about an hour and a half as crews worked to clear the accident and manage the spill.

Lieutenant Sean Anderson of the North Branford Police Department provided the details of the incident in a press release.

Traffic was rerouted until the road reopened later that day.
