Portland police seek information in 2010 homicide of New York man

PORTLAND — In an effort to revive a cold case, the Portland Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in the unsolved homicide of 22-year-old Taquan Samuels.

Samuels was fatally shot on July 25, 2010, while leaving a party at an apartment complex on Allen Avenue.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Samuels had recently moved to the 55 Allen Avenue Apartments before his untimely death.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours as he was exiting the party.

Despite the passage of time, authorities are committed to bringing closure to the case and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detectives Townsend and Curlee are the lead investigators on the case and can be contacted directly at (207) 874-8606 and (207) 874-8907, respectively.

The department has also provided an anonymous tip line at (207) 874-8584, allowing individuals to leave a message with any details that might aid the investigation.
