Brewster police officer on leave after felony arrest

1 min read

BREWSTER — Police Chief Heath J. Eldredge announced Thursday that officer Matthew Marshall has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest on felony charges by another law enforcement agency.

Marshall, employed by the Brewster Police Department since 2005, faces allegations that Chief Eldredge described as “offensive” and not reflective of the department’s policies and values.

“These actions do not represent the standards of the hardworking members of the Department,” Eldredge stated, emphasizing the department’s commitment to integrity and maintaining public trust.

Marshall joined the department as a dispatcher in 2005 before becoming an officer in 2007.

He has been relieved of his duties pending an internal affairs investigation that will determine his future employment status.

The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission has been notified to consider action on Marshall’s certification as a police officer.

The Brewster Police Department expressed gratitude to the Massachusetts State Police and the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office for their professional handling of the investigation.
