Brewster police officer arrested on multiple charges, including child pornography

BREWSTER — Massachusetts State Police, in conjunction with Brewster Police, have apprehended Matthew Marshall, an officer with the Brewster Police Department, on a string of serious charges.

Marshall was taken into custody this afternoon and faces allegations of Possession of Child Pornography, Dissemination of Child Pornography, Defacement of Real or Personal Property, Unlawful Communication of Record Information, and capturing photographs outside the scope of his official duties as a first responder.

Following his arrest, Marshall has been placed on administrative leave and will be subject to an internal review by the Brewster Police Department.

This internal probe is set to occur simultaneously with the criminal investigation being led by the Massachusetts State Police.

The Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office has announced that Marshall is scheduled for arraignment on July 25 at the Orleans District Court.
