PROVIDENCE — Wiers Farm has issued a recall for a variety of its produce products packed between July 5 and July 12 after concerns that they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced today.

The potentially contaminated items were distributed to several retail locations, including Save-A-Lot stores in Rhode Island and Walmarts in Connecticut.

Additionally, the products reached shelves in other states such as Maine, New York, and New Jersey.

Among the recalled produce are poblano peppers, bagged green beans, salad cucumbers, organic bell peppers, organic cucumbers, organic yellow squash, and organic zucchini squash.

Consumers can access a complete list of the recalled products and the retail stores that sold them on the Department of Health’s website.

As of now, there have been no reported illnesses or consumer complaints associated with the recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is a harmful bacterium that can cause listeriosis, an infection that presents with symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal distress.

Symptoms may persist for several days or extend up to several weeks.

The Rhode Island Department of Health urges anyone who has consumed the recalled produce and is experiencing symptoms to seek immediate medical care.

Wiers Farm is working closely with the Department of Health to ensure the recall is effectively communicated and the affected products are promptly removed from store shelves.

Customers who have purchased these items are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
