Three arrested in Putney traffic stop for stolen property, obstruction

PUTNEY — Vermont State Police arrested three individuals on various charges, including possession of stolen property and obstruction of justice, following a traffic stop in Putney on June 2.

At 11:27 a.m., a trooper from the Westminster Barracks pulled over a vehicle on Old Route 5 South after noting a traffic violation.

During the stop, an investigation led to the discovery of a stolen firearm in the possession of Stephanie Murano, a 32-year-old from Brattleboro.

Murano faced additional charges of giving false information to police and possession of stolen property.

Kashka Lundy, 38, of Springfield, was also in the vehicle and was charged with obstruction of justice alongside Murano for attempting to impede the investigation.

A third person, Laurie Wheeler, 61, from Dummerston, was identified as being involved prior to the stop.

Wheeler was charged with possession of stolen property.

Lundy and Murano were taken into custody without incident and processed at the Westminster Barracks.

They were released with a criminal citation to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on July 24 at 12:30 p.m. Wheeler was issued a citation to appear in court on Sept. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
