Suspect in custody after Roxbury shooting

BOSTON — Police have apprehended a man wanted for a shooting in Roxbury that left one person injured.

At about 9:20 a.m., on Wednesday, July 24, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Tyrone Anderson, 39, of Dorchester, near 2 Yarmouth Place.

Anderson was wanted on a warrant from Roxbury District Court for unlawful possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

The arrest stems from an incident on Saturday, May 18, when officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were called to 9 Abbotsford Street around 4:02 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

They found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

The Boston Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
