East Haven police seek public’s aid in bank robbery case

EAST HAVEN — The East Haven Police Department issued a public appeal on July 23 for assistance in identifying a man accused of robbing a local bank earlier in the day.

Authorities report that the Citizens Bank on 263 Hemingway Avenue was targeted by the individual at around 10:34 a.m. The suspect is described as a stocky white or Hispanic male with a gray beard.

He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a gray and black fleece jacket, which may be a brand like Columbia or North Face, dark-colored pants or sweatpants, possibly Adidas, and light-colored shoes.

During the incident, the man handed a note to a bank teller and suggested he was armed with a weapon, though none was seen.

After receiving an undisclosed sum of money, he fled eastbound on River Street.

East Haven Police have confirmed that no one was physically harmed during the robbery.

The department has urged anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or who may have captured footage of the suspect on video surveillance to contact the East Haven Police Department at 203-468-3820.
