SOMERSWORTH — Police arrested a local man on a felony charge after a road rage incident that involved gunfire near the Maine state line earlier this month.

Authorities were called to Market Street on July 7 around 8:30 p.m. following reports of shots fired.

The suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Dillon S. O’Shea, allegedly remained in the area briefly after the incident.

A “Be on the Lookout” alert was issued to nearby law enforcement, including those in Maine.

Berwick, Maine, police located O’Shea’s vehicle on Rochester Street about 10 minutes after the Somersworth incident and pulled him over.

O’Shea was detained, and his car was impounded pending a search warrant.

The subsequent search by Berwick police recovered a firearm and evidence suggesting shots had been fired from the vehicle.

Somersworth police then obtained an arrest warrant, and O’Shea turned himself in.

O’Shea faces one count of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled for arraignment at Dover District Court on Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m.

The Somersworth Police Department extended gratitude to the Berwick Police for their swift response and cooperation.

They are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
