Six charged in deadly Lynn drive-by shooting

LYNN — Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker announced charges against six individuals in relation to a drive-by shooting that claimed two lives and injured five others last year.

The incident, which occurred at 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 2, at a gathering at 189 Essex Street, resulted in the deaths of Jandriel Heredia, 21, of Revere, and Abraham Diaz, 25, of Lynn.

Justin Alba, 25, of Peabody; Darwin Batista, 20; Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22; Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16; Leonardo Espinoza, 15; and Abel Severino Reyes, 21, all from Lynn, face two counts of murder each.

Additional charges for Alba, Batista, Vallecillo Cambar, and Severino Reyes include one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

“This investigation involved the Lynn Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and State Police Detective Unit for Essex County, and the U.S.

Department of Homeland Security Investigations,” Tucker stated, acknowledging the collective efforts that led to the indictments.

Nicholson reflected on the tragedy and commended the step towards justice for the victims and the Lynn community.

Police Chief Chris Reddy expressed gratitude for the collaboration among law enforcement agencies that led to the arrests.

Tucker emphasized the ongoing commitment to confronting gun violence and ensuring justice in Essex County.

The district attorney’s office will issue further details regarding arraignment dates in due course.
