BEDFORD — The driver involved in a collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Concord Road near a bike path intersection has been cited for multiple offenses, authorities said Monday.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Bedford Chief of Police John Fisher announced that the 34-year-old Billerica man was cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, committing a crosswalk violation, and using an electronic device while driving.

The incident occurred on Saturday at about 3:36 p.m. when Bedford Police received reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

Bedford Fire paramedics provided Advanced Life Support to the 53-year-old Concord woman before transporting her to Lahey Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim was walking her bicycle across the road in a crosswalk when the Volkswagen GTI, driven by the Billerica man, struck her.

It is alleged that the driver was using his cell phone at the time of the crash.

An immediate threat filing was made with the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

The driver will be summoned to Concord District Court on a later date.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Bedford Police, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Reconstruction Section are conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
