DUMMER — A 13-year-old girl was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Friday at approximately 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Muzzy Hill Road and Cedar Brook Road.

NH Fish and Game officials, along with Coos County Sheriff’s Officers and Milan and Dummer Fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene to assist the young rider.

An investigation revealed that the ATV operator veered off the road and struck a sign, causing the vehicle to roll over onto its side.

Although the ATV sustained structural damage to its right front components, it was not immediately clear if the damage occurred before the crash or was a result of it.

The youth, who was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

She was wearing a full-face helmet and eye protection, which likely prevented more serious harm.

The girl had also completed an OHRV Safe Rider Education class prior to the accident.

Emergency services transported the injured youth to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, but initial assessments suggest that operating the vehicle on pavement and the operator’s inexperience may have been contributing factors to the accident.
