Richmond standoff ends with suspect in custody, victim hospitalized

RICHMOND — Vermont State Police and local law enforcement agencies responded to a domestic disturbance on July 19 that escalated into a standoff resulting in the arrest of a man on multiple charges, including aggravated domestic assault.

Authorities were called to a residence at 64 Meadow Lane at about 11:32 a.m. following reports of a suspicious incident.

Upon arrival, Hinesburg Police Department officers spoke with the occupants and determined that mental health services were required.

While an officer was making arrangements outside the home, a woman emerged with a gunshot wound to her arm and torso.

The quick response of the officer on the scene ensured the victim, a 60-year-old woman related to the suspect, was transported to safety and received immediate medical attention.

She was later taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement established a perimeter around the property as the situation intensified.

Additional support, including the Vermont State Police, VSP Crisis Negotiation Unit, mental health professionals, Williston Police, Richmond Rescue, and more officers from Richmond and Hinesburg, arrived to handle the developing crisis.

The suspect, identified as Dylan Davis, was engaged in a standoff with police that concluded around 2:15 p.m. Davis was taken into custody without further incident and was processed at the Hinesburg Police Department.

He faces charges of aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon, domestic assault, and reckless endangerment.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.

The community is grateful for the swift and coordinated response of the multiple agencies involved, which prevented further harm and resolved the dangerous situation peacefully.
