Mark Marsden was taken into custody on Saturday and faces charges of burglary, unlawful mischief, and violation of conditions of release, according to a statement from the Vermont State Police.

The incident was reported to authorities early Friday morning when store employees discovered forced entry through a rear window of the establishment located on US Route 5. Surveillance footage showed a lone male suspect breaking into the store at approximately 11:49 p.m. on Thursday.

Initial investigation revealed that the burglar stole $300 in cash and a carton of Marlboro Red cigarettes valued at approximately $120. The suspect also reportedly caused about $1,500 in damage to the store.

Following a tip received on Friday, troopers identified Marsden as a suspect. After speaking with Marsden, officers obtained consent to search his residence, where they found evidence linked to the burglary.
