Jamaica State Park reports theft of trail counters

JAMAICA — Vermont State Police are investigating a larceny at Jamaica State Park where three trail counters used to monitor visitor numbers were reported stolen on July 18 at 3:08 p.m.

The theft of the trail counters occurred shortly after the implementation of the Master Plan for the Hamilton Falls Natural Area, a project designed to enhance visitor experience and park management.

The devices are integral to the park’s operations for tracking the number of visitors and ensuring the sustainability of the natural area.

Authorities have not identified any suspects.

Vermont State Police are appealing to the public for assistance.

The investigation is ongoing, and the park officials are assessing the impact of the theft on their operations.
