SPRINGFIELD — A single-vehicle accident led to the arrest of a local woman on charges of crack cocaine possession late Saturday night.
Jamie Zerba, the driver of the overturned vehicle, was arrested following an investigation by Springfield police officers after they responded to a report of an accident on Charlestown Road at Paddock Road at approximately 9:39 p.m.
According to the Springfield Police Department, the vehicle was found on its roof in a ditch near Paddock Road.
Zerba managed to exit the vehicle without assistance before law enforcement arrived.
While Zerba was providing documents to the officers, Cpl.
Perkins noticed a small silicone container in her wallet which she admitted contained drugs.
The subsequent search revealed suspected crack cocaine.
Zerba was taken into custody without further incident and was processed at the Springfield Police Department.
She was later released with a summons to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Sept. 4 at 8 a.m. to face the drug possession charge.
