Late-night burglary at Hoagie’s Expressway in Derby

DERBY — Vermont State Police are investigating a burglary at Hoagie’s Expressway in Derby that occurred late Thursday night.

Troopers from the Derby Barracks responded to a report of the break-in at approximately 6:25 a.m. this morning.

Store employees discovered the break-in before police arrived, finding that the suspect had gained entry through a rear window.

Surveillance footage obtained by investigators shows a lone male suspect forcing entry into the store at approximately 11:49 p.m. Police have released still images from the video to assist in identifying the suspect.

The burglar reportedly stole $300 in cash and a carton of Marlboro Red cigarettes valued at approximately $120. Additionally, the suspect caused an estimated $1,700 in damage to the store.

Vermont State Police are seeking public assistance in the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the authorities.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
