Three injured in multi-vehicle crash on Route 9 in Keene

KEENE — A three-car collision on Route 9 at Sullivan Road resulted in serious injuries and a significant emergency response on the morning of July 18.

Keene Police were dispatched at 8:37 a.m. to the scene of the accident, where they found a major crash involving three vehicles.

According to preliminary investigations, a Nissan Frontier, driven by Francis Desjardins, 70, of Walpole, was traveling east when it collided with a Mazda Miata operated by Peter Morin, 72, of Surry.

The impact forced Morin’s vehicle across the median into the westbound lane, where it struck a 1937 Ford Roadster driven by Randy Gooklin, 63, of North Berwick, Maine.

Emergency personnel from Keene Fire Department quickly attended to the injured parties, transporting several to Cheshire Medical Center for treatment.

The exact number of injured and the extent of their injuries have not been disclosed, but they were reported to be serious.

The Keene Police Collision Analysis Team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from state and local authorities including New Hampshire State Police and the Cheshire County Sheriff’s Department.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation also provided support at the scene.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward with information.
