BOSTON — Two detail officers assisted in the arrest of an armed robbery suspect Wednesday after he allegedly threatened individuals with an axe and stole several items from a local store.
At about 12:10 p.m., officers from District A-15 and two detail officers apprehended Alan Badgett, 33, of Boston, on charges of armed robbery.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of 27 Austin Street after police received reports of a man brandishing an axe and a bottle.
According to Boston Police Operations, Badgett threatened security personnel with the axe, claiming he could “take whatever he wanted.” He then proceeded to steal a juice bottle and multiple water bottles before attempting to flee the scene.
Responding swiftly, two officers on a paid detail on Main Street headed to Austin Street, where they managed to de-escalate the situation.
After conducting a pat frisk, they recovered an axe from Badgett.
Following his arrest, Badgett faces armed robbery charges and is slated for arraignment in Charlestown District Court.
