1 min read

CONCORD — New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has issued a public health alert for potential measles exposure in Merrimack, Alton, and Concord.

An out-of-state individual who visited New Hampshire was infectious at the time of their visit, following exposure to an international traveler with measles identified in late June.

The DHHS has pinpointed several locations where the infected person was present and could have transmitted the virus.

People who are not immune due to lack of vaccination or previous infection, those with compromised immune systems, and infants who have not yet been vaccinated are at risk.

The locations and times of the possible exposures are as follows:

– July 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Baked and Brewed Café, 915 Suncook Valley Road, Alton
– July 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse, 317 Loudon Road, Concord
– July 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Common Man, 314 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack

Residents who visited these venues during the specified times are urged to verify their immunity status and monitor for measles symptoms if they are uncertain about their level of protection.

Those potentially exposed should contact the Division of Public Health Services (DPHS) at 603-271-4496 immediately.

This incident marks the fifth infection associated with a broader multistate measles outbreak.

Updated information regarding infection counts and exposure sites in New Hampshire can be found on the DHHS website.

Measles symptoms typically include high fever, cough, runny nose, and watery eyes, followed by a widespread body rash several days later.

Granite Staters are advised to confirm their vaccination or immunity status with healthcare providers.

Unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to discuss vaccination with their healthcare provider as it offers the most effective protection against the virus.

For further information about the measles outbreak, residents can contact DPHS at 603-271-4496 or visit the U.S.
