Middlebury man arrested for DUI, resisting arrest

MIDDLEBURY — A local man was arrested early Thursday morning after Vermont State Police conducted a traffic stop and suspected him of driving under the influence.

Andrew R. Malzac, 31, of Middlebury, was pulled over on Weybridge Street near College Street at 12:50 a.m. Troopers detected signs of impairment during their interaction with Malzac.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Malzac was in violation of his conditions of release.

When authorities attempted to take him into custody, Malzac resisted arrest.

After being transported to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing, Malzac was released with a citation.

He is scheduled to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on July 18 at 12:30 p.m.

The Middlebury Police Department provided assistance to the state troopers during the incident.
