Waterbury Center ranger station burglarized, safe stolen

WATERBURY CENTER — Vermont State Police are investigating a burglary at the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources ranger station early Tuesday morning, where a safe was stolen.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to a report of a break-in at 177 Reservoir Road at approximately 7:44 a.m.

The burglary occurred between 1:53 and 2:29 a.m., according to authorities.

Security footage from the scene shows two men forcing entry into the building.

One of the individuals is described as having visible tattoos.

Photos and the video from the incident have been released on the Vermont State Police’s Flickr page in hopes of aiding the identification of the suspects.

Investigators at the scene recovered multiple pieces of evidence, including DNA, which are currently being analyzed.

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources has not provided a statement on what was contained within the stolen safe or the estimated value of the loss.

The investigation is still active, and police are asking for the public’s assistance.
