TROY — Vermont State Police arrested two suspects Wednesday in connection with the February homicide of Kayla Wright, 29, of Derby, while seeking a third suspect on murder charges.
Aaron Camp, 34, of Derby, was charged with unauthorized burial or removal of a body and being an accessory after the fact to murder. Terron “Josh” Pendleton, 34, of Waterbury, faces one count of being an accessory after the fact to murder.
Authorities have also applied for an arrest warrant for Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith, 24, of Hartford, Connecticut, on charges of second-degree murder and unauthorized burial or removal of a body. Keith has been in custody since February 6 on federal drug charges.
The investigation revealed that Keith allegedly shot Wright multiple times on February 2 inside a home on Vermont Route 100 in Troy. The shooting stemmed from a dispute related to drug trafficking in northern Vermont.
According to police, Camp and Pendleton assisted in cleaning up the crime scene following the shooting. Camp allegedly helped Keith dispose of Wright’s body in a large toolbox near Big Falls on the Missisquoi River in Troy.
Wright’s body was discovered on February 6 by a member of the public on a sandbar in the Missisquoi River. An autopsy confirmed her identity and determined the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.
The Vermont State Police investigation involved multiple units, including the Major Crime Unit and the Narcotics Investigation Unit. The Newport Police Department, Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, and federal Homeland Security Investigations also provided assistance.
Camp and Pendleton were scheduled for arraignment Wednesday afternoon in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Newport. A court hearing for Keith has yet to be scheduled.
