SPRINGFIELD — A man on bail for a previous firearms charge was apprehended Tuesday in connection with a June shooting in Springfield that left three people injured and caused property damage, police said.

David Beadle, 29, was arrested at about 2:50 p.m. on Hancock Street by members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Massachusetts State Police VFAS, and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, according to the Springfield Police Department (SPD).

The arrest stems from a June 29 incident where police responded around 5:00 p.m. to multiple ShotSpotter activations on Dunmoreland St. Two victims were found at the scene, and a third was privately taken to Mercy Hospital, all with non-life-threatening injuries.

The gunfire also struck five vehicles and two homes.

Following an investigation led by Captain Trent Duda of the SPD Detective Bureau, one of the shooting suspects, who was also a victim, was arrested at Baystate.

Beadle, identified as the second suspect, was later spotted driving despite a suspended license, leading to his subsequent arrest.

At the time of his arrest, Beadle was out on bail from a May firearms case and was monitored with a GPS ankle bracelet, which he was wearing when taken into custody.

Beadle, a convicted felon, faces multiple charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license and assault with a firearm.

Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers praised the work of the SPD and FIU in apprehending another dangerous individual, highlighting the impact of gun violence on the community.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno expressed frustration with the judicial system’s handling of repeat violent offenders and called for legislative action on bail reform.
