NEW BEDFORD — Following an extensive investigation, New Bedford Police have arrested a man in connection with a spate of break-ins and thefts from commercial trucks in the area.
Daniel Pedro, 47, of 1669 Acushnet Ave., was apprehended on July 10 after detectives conducted a traffic stop.
Inside his vehicle, authorities found a Husky Air compressor, a Milwaukee toolbox, and a Rigid Shop Vac, items believed to be stolen from the trucks.
The burglaries, characterized by smashed windows and theft of valuable tools and air compressors, occurred during the late night and early morning hours.
Pedro faces multiple charges including twelve counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle or boat, eight counts of larceny over $1,200, larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property greater than $1,200, and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.
Detective Matthew Sylvia, who led the investigation, may press additional charges as the case progresses.
Pedro, with an extensive criminal past including 120 adult arraignments and numerous convictions, was held on $30,000 bail.
He is currently in the custody of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department.
