EAST PROVIDENCE — Three men were arrested Tuesday morning after an armed robbery in which shots were fired at a victim near James Street, according to East Providence police.
The victim, who encountered the suspects around 9 a.m., immediately reported the incident to an officer on a traffic detail, providing descriptions of the individuals and their vehicle.
Police officers and detectives swiftly converged on the area, finding a crashed red Honda CRV at the intersection of James Street and Blanding Avenue.
Local residents confirmed hearing shots and directed authorities to where the suspects had fled on foot.
A perimeter was established around the Central Avenue playground, leading to the discovery of the suspects hiding behind a skate ramp.
Abel Nolasco, David Ramos, and Alex Manuel Jesus Marte were detained without further incident, and a loaded firearm was found near their hiding spot.
The suspects, identified by the victim, were taken to the police station for processing.
East Providence Police Department noted that this was an isolated event.
Nolasco, 38, and Ramos, 33, both from the Bronx, New York, along with Marte, 27, from Providence, are facing multiple charges including 1st Degree Robbery, Conspiracy, and illegal firearm possession among others.
They are also being held on ICE detainers for illegal reentry into the United States.
