Rhode Island state police make multiple arrests

HOPE VALLEY — Rhode Island State Police made several arrests Tuesday, including a man wanted on multiple warrants and another for possession of prohibited large capacity feeding devices.

At 8:35 a.m., troopers arrested Gilbert E. Melo Ledesma, 25, of Providence, on five outstanding warrants.

The charges included domestic felony assault, simple assault, and failure to appear.

Melo Ledesma was located in Coventry as a result of a 24-hour domestic violence alert from Providence police.

In a separate incident at 1:51 a.m., Michael P. Varrecchione, 59, of North Kingstown, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 95 in Richmond.

He was wanted on a warrant for fraudulent checks under $1,500 from Jamestown police.

At 1:55 a.m., troopers responded to a residence in Exeter where Michael G. DePasquale, 37, allegedly fired a firearm in the basement.

He was arrested on 30 counts of possessing prohibited large capacity feeding devices and one count of disorderly conduct.

All three suspects were processed at the Hope Valley Barracks.

Melo Ledesma and Varrecchione were turned over to local police departments, while DePasquale was held overnight pending arraignment.
