Multiple arrests made in Providence overnight

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police made several arrests in Providence overnight, including for drug possession, violation of a no-contact order, and forgery.

At 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, troopers arrested Benjamin J. Olivera, 47, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, for violating a domestic no-contact order, his third such offense.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Lockwood Street.

Olivera was held overnight as a probation violator.

Later that night, at 11:27 p.m., Naomi V. Sam, 41, of Providence, was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and fentanyl, both less than 10 grams.

Sam was released with a court date after being arraigned by a justice of the peace.

Minutes later, at 11:30 p.m., troopers arrested Wadeshly N. Rivera Padilla, 25, of Providence, on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license.

Rivera Padilla was transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution.

At 11:40 p.m., Nancy A. Melo, 35, of Providence, was arrested on warrants for simple assault and disorderly conduct issued by the Providence Police Department.

Melo was turned over to Providence police.

Early Wednesday, at 3:37 a.m., Saul Izaguirre Pavon, 29, of Providence, was arrested for forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates following a traffic stop.

Izaguirre Pavon was released with a court date after arraignment.
