BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department and Transit Police arrested a suspect on charges of armed robbery Monday night after he allegedly threatened and robbed a victim on Massachusetts Avenue.

At about 8:47 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress at 194 Massachusetts Avenue.

The suspect, later identified as Jesus Garcia, 58, of Haverhill, allegedly implied he had a weapon by gripping his waistband and threatened to shoot the victim.

After stealing the victim’s phone and money, Garcia fled towards Boylston Street.

Using the stolen phone’s tracking feature, officers, with the aid of Transit Police, stopped a train at Roxbury Crossing to search for Garcia.

Upon calling the victim’s phone, officers observed it ringing in Garcia’s possession, leading to his apprehension and the recovery of the stolen items.

Garcia was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Additionally, he had an active warrant for unarmed robbery.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
