READING — A Saugus man was arrested and faces multiple charges including operating under the influence after Reading Police pulled him over for erratic driving on Friday night.
William Bolanos Zamora, age 40, of Saugus, is charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding.
At about 8:29 p.m. on July 12, a Reading Police officer on traffic enforcement duty noticed a white Ford Edge traveling at a high speed on Haverhill Street.
The officer followed the vehicle as it swerved across marked lanes.
Police stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Haverhill Street and Varney Circle.
The initial investigation showed Bolanos Zamora was driving with only a permit.
No passengers were in the car.
A strong odor of alcohol was detected from both the vehicle and Bolanos Zamora.
After failing a field sobriety test, it was found that his blood alcohol level was .18, over double the legal limit.
Bolanos Zamora was taken into custody without incident and is due for arraignment in Woburn District Court on July 15.
